Course Description:

This workshop is for CAE members only. You must be affiliated with a CAE institution to register.

This 4-day introductory scripting workshop will dedicate two days to the Python programming language and two days to the PoweShell scripting language.

Python topics include:
  • Basic programming techniques
  • I/O
  • Data processing
  • File manipulation
  • Program control logic
  • Functions
  • Modules
  • Exception handling

We additionally cover port scanning web scraping and web api interaction.

PowerShell topics include: 

  • Basics of cmdlets
  • Working with classes and objects
  • Setting up interfaces
  • Interacting with the filesystem
  • Remote Connections
  • File Transfer

NOTE: This workshop will be broadcast live via Zoom – attendees should expect to login in to the workshop and participate at the times scheduled (4hrs per day – 9:00AM – 1:00PM CDT).

June 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th (4-day workshop over two weeks)

 


About the Instructors:

Mike Masino has been an Information Technology instructor at Madison Area Technical College since 2004. Mike has eleven years of experience previously working first as an integrated control systems developer and later as systems Administrator for the University of Wisconsin Extension. Mike holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering, as well as Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Computer Science. Mike’s industry certifications include: Microsoft: MCSE, MCP + I (Win NT 4.0/ Win2000) / Cisco: CCNA, CCAI / CompTIA: A+. Security+, Network + / SANS: GCIH, GCFA, GCIA (current member of GIAC advisory board).
