Course Description:

This 5 day class will cover core competencies in the latest PC hardware and software technologies as well as safety and environmental issues and soft skills. There will be a special unit focusing on Cyber Security. The course will cover all topics required for CompTIA’s new A+ Certification (Exams 220-1001 and 200-1002) and the new Cisco IT Essentials curriculum (version 7). This course’s focus is on the training needs of high school IT faculty although it will also be open to College IT faculty. Attendees will have opportunity to gain certification as a Cisco Certified System Instructor (CCSI) for Cisco IT Essentials (ITE) curriculum.

NOTE: This class will be broadcast live via Zoom – attendees should expect to login in to the class and participate at the times scheduled (2hrs per day – 8:00-10:00AM).

About the Instructors:

 Heather Miles is an experienced instructor at Gateway Technical College and technician with a demonstrated history of working in the computer and network security industry in Higher Ed and with small businesses. Skilled in MIS, Computer Science, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Databases, and Administration. Strong business development professional with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) focused in Business Administration, Management and Operations and BS in Computer Science from University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

 

Jerry Gifford III has taught with Gateway Technical College for three years.  Prior to coming onboard with Gateway Technical College, Jerry established himself as an accomplished IT Director with 27+ years of experience managing server infrastructures, data-center operations across multiple platforms (Linux & Windows), and successful service desks. Jerry has a proven ability to create and deliver solutions tied to business growth, organizational development and systems/network optimization.
